Negative Pressure Wound Therapy
Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) is a treatment for chronic and acute wounds using a vacuum source and dressing to promote healing.
Fluid, exudates, and infectious materials are removed using continuous or intermittent negative pressure inside the wound created by a vacuum pump.
NPWT is commonly prescribed for patients with pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers, venous ulcers, arterial ulcers, post-surgery ulcers, burns, or wounds resulting from a trauma. NPWT in the home has shown to help close these types of wounds faster and with reduced treatment costs, making NPWT both effective and economical.
